The Brighton Dance Festival was founded in 2010 by Kathy King, in partnership with Michigan Dance Project, Michelle’s Academy of Dance & Performing Arts Center, and the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts. For years, Michigan Dance Project had been running summer intensives, but Kathy saw a greater need for connection with the community, which sparked the idea to partner with the BCPA. This created the opportunity to support the local performing arts venue while also facilitating a more professional and exciting week of dance for students across Michigan.
Since 2010, Brighton Dance Festival has proudly donated $25,000 to the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts, $3,000 to Cleary University, plus offered over $12,000 in tuition scholarships through our Internship Program!
Our mission is to provide a supportive and healthy environment for dancers of all ages to explore technical training and artistic freedom. We bring together top-notch local dance faculty and offer a wide variety of class opportunities.
